A Chianti wine is any wine produced in the Chianti region of central Tuscany. It was historically associated with a squat bottle enclosed in a straw basket, called a fiasco . However, the fiasco is only used by a few makers of the wine as most Chianti is now bottled in more standard shaped wine bottles. In the mid-late 19th century, Baron Bettino Ricasoli (later Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Italy) helped establish Sangiovese as the blend’s dominant grape variety, creating the blueprint for today’s Chianti wines. The first definition of a wine area called Chianti was made in 1716. It described the area near the villages of Gaiole, Castellina and Radda; the so-called Lega del Chianti and later Provincia del Chianti (Chianti province). In 1932 the Chianti area was completely redrawn and divided into seven sub-areas: Classico, Colli Aretini, Colli Fiorentini, Colline Pisane, Colli Senesi, Montalbano and Rùfina. Most of the villages that in 1932 were added to the newly defined Chianti Classico region added in Chianti to their names, for example Greve in Chianti, which amended its name in 1972. Wines labelled Chianti Classico come from the largest sub-area of Chianti, which includes the original Chianti heartland. Only Chianti from this sub-zone may display the black rooster (gallo nero) seal on the neck of the bottle, which indicates that the producer of the wine is a member of the Chianti Classico Consortium, the local association of producers. Other variants, with the exception of Rufina north-east of Florence and Montalbano south of Pistoia, originate in the named provinces: Siena for the Colli Senesi, Florence for the Colli Fiorentini, Arezzo for the Colli Aretini and Pisa for the Colline Pisane. Bolgheri is located in the comune of Castagneto Carducci, a few kilometers north-west of the chief town and lies in the Province of Livorno in Italy, on the foothills of the Colline Metallifere, south of Bibbona.

Bolgheri, cradle of Giosuè Carducci, it known in the world for his “Super Tuscans Wines” and inimitable Avenue of Cypresses. (2500!!!) Bolgheri became an internationally known region following an event in 1974 arranged by Decanter where a 6-year-old Sassicaia won over an assortment of Bordeaux wines. Prior to this, Bolgheri had been relatively anonymous producers of ordinary white wines and rosés. Due to the particular characteristics of the soil and micro climate sunny, dry and moderately windy, the grape varieties of Bordeaux origin tend to thrive, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

  1. Make a Reservation : Fill out the booking form and leave your credit card on Stripe;
  2. When your Credit Card will be charged : the experience will be charged 7 days prior your tour; ** Museums Tickets will be charged at the reservation time and are NOT REFUNDABLE;
  3. Enjoy your experience : Now you are all set! Have a wonderful time.

P.N.: all services provided are customizable according your needs. The pick up and drop off time can be change according the arrival and departure time of the ship.

  • Meeting Point : Customers will be met by a Tuscany Taste Tour’s driver holding up a sign with the customer’s name.  Take the free shuttle bus you will find under the ship to the waiting area for private car service located outside the port.
  • Our drivers are NOT OFFICIAL LICENCE GUIDES and they can give you commentaries of the sites seen from inside the vehicle. We are professional speaking drivers but are not allowed, by an agreement with Labour Union, to enter museums, churches and other monuments.
  • Dresses: Please dress respectfully for visiting religious monuments, local custom requires cover knees and shoulder. Comfortable walking shoes recommended.
  • Wheel Chair Accessible :This service, available upon request, allows the vehicle to be configured from 8 passenger seats to 5 seats plus one for the disabled passenger, ensuring safe and easy access for those with mobility challenges. Please note that the wheelchair lift is installed only upon request and requires a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Therefore, we kindly ask you to contact us in advance to ensure the service is available.Please note that while the driver can assist with boarding and disembarking, it is required that the disabled passenger is accompanied by an assistant during the journey.”
  • The vehicle will escort you for the entire service. Walking is limited unlike bus tour where you have to walk the whole day.

    Services from Hotels: our driver will be waiting for you by the concierge of your hotel or by the entrance of your apartment. Services from Airports: our driver will be waiting for you by the terminal exit with a sign showing your name on it. Please do not walk outside the terminal. Services from the Ports of Livorno / Rome / Naples: once disembark, please follow the crowd to the exit. Our driver will be waiting for you with a sign showing your name on it. Do not take any shuttle bus. Services from La Spezia / Carrara Port: once you disembark please take the free shuttle bus to the Cruise Terminal. Our driver will be waiting for you with a sign showing your name on it, just outside the Terminal. Museums tickets are NOT REFUNDABLE and include handling fees. Tip is not included and deeply appreciated by our drivers. 15% usually means all was acceptable. 20% for excellent, over 20% outstanding.15-20% is considered standard in most communities. Extra time and mileage: any variation of the itinerary or time must be advised to our office prior the beginning of the service itself.  Payment by credit card 4% bank fees ( Visa , Mastercard) NOT Amex.

TTT22S – Cinqueterre and Portovenere Shore Excursion from La Spezia Port

The Cinque Terre is in the Italian Region of Liguria, just west of the city of La Spezia. It is comprised of the Cinque Terre, “The Five Lands” or five villages: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso.

Enjoy the Cinque Terre tour with the best views from the panoramic drive, and a stop in Pisa to see the famous sites. You will be driven to Portovenere, Riomaggiore and Corniglia.

Porto Venere is a town and comune  located on the Ligurian coast of Italy in the province of La Spezia. It comprises the three villages of Fezzano, Le Grazie and Porto Venere, and the three islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. In 1997 Porto Venere and the villages of Cinque Terre were designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

  • Riomaggiore Our first Cinque Terre village. Colorful houses tumbling down to the sea, narrow lanes carved into the rock, fishing boats in the tiny harbor. Dramatic, authentic, unforgettable. Time to wander and breathe it all in.
  • Corniglia Perched high on a clifftop, the quietest and most local of the five villages. Lunch at a traditional trattoria here is an experience in itself — and don’t leave without trying the gelato. Trust me. 🍦
  • Monterosso al Mare (time permitting) The largest and most relaxed of the five villages, with a proper beach, elegant cafés, and a slower pace. A perfect way to end the afternoon.
